Eylas mother Cydia was brought into the tribe by Nakta the Healer. One night when Nakta came back from the wilderness they brought a young witch name Cydia with them. She could barely stand but recovered fast after Nakta personally took care of her. They sheltered her and integrated her into their Household. About eight moons later Eyla was born. He was raised mainly by Nakta and Cydia as if he were their child. There are som rumours about Eyla’s father but nobody - except Cydia maybe - knows who his father really is.

Cydia served the house with her medicinal skills and her witchcraft. She taught what she knew to Eyla who was an eager learner. Until she vanished one night without any trace nobody learned where she came from, how Nakta met her and who the father of Eyla was.

Eyla was always an earnest child. More interested in the affairs of the adults and his studies than in childish play. But after his mother vanished he developed a deep bond with Imek who became something like a substitute little sister to him and he became very protective of her.

Despite him being deeply rooted in the Broken Tusks customs and traditions he always had a difficult relationship with Pakano who still considers him and outsider and distrusts him for being a witch.

Eyla learned the Moose Houses customs of branding faces with thick lines. Since this technique is blunt and coarse he was more interested in the tattooing techniques of the Falcon House which are much more delicate and agreeing with his sensible nature.
